Abstract:
Attenuation of prompt radiation is expressed in "equivalent feet of dirt." For various materials-- soil, iron, dolomite, concrete, heavy concrete, and sand--a table lists attenuation tenth-value layer values and soil equivalent scale factors.

Scale factors for some materials have been calculated assuming shielding attenuation scales with density, which may NOT be valid for some shielding applications.
